NOTE: When I was thinking of a potential plot for this story it sounded a bit like Aladdin and The Looking Glass Wars combined, so I don't know what I should do with it anymore. It will be about Basia having to get married by her 25th bday before she can be crowned queen of whatever I decide to call the kingdom, but she doesn't want to get married so her and Izaak run away. Her parents think she is dead because she is gone for a really long time (until shes 23 or 24) and when she comes back the kingdom is being run by a real asshole so she tries to gain back power.
“Princess Basia!” Izaak hollered “Princess Basia you need to hurry! Queen Halina is going to have a fit if you don't show up for your lessons on time! Remember what happened two lessons ago?” Izaak fixed his collar pensively “Princess Basia!”
Basia gave out a short sigh and headed down to the kitchen. She was just fixing her dress when she was interrupted by her butler, Izaak's, bellowing. She came down the hallway as elegantly as she could. When she walked into the kitchen a grin spread across Izaak's face. He tried to act professional, but he couldn't any longer. Basia never dressed like a lady, and when she did, she looked stunning. This particular day she had on a long strapless white dress with a blue vintage pattern all over. She wore matching ballerina shoes and had her usually plain, straight, black hair, into thick, luscious curls.
Izaak may have been just some servant boy, but that didn't mean a thing when it came to Basia. Her cheeks turned a light shade of pink as she looked upon Izaak's mesmerized face.
“What?” she complained. Her forehead creased “I look okay, right?”
Izaak shook his head as if he just got back from having a vision into the future “More than okay Princess Basia.”
“Stop it.” Basia growled.
“What?” Izaak looked confused
“Stop calling me 'Princess Basia'”
“But thats your name.” Izaak protested.
“So what? It makes me feel uncomfortable when you call me 'Princess Basia'” Basia turned her head to the wooden clock perched above the sink. “Its almost time for my lesson! Why didn't you tell me it was time to go? It takes a while the get to the garden.”
“I was calling you-” Izaak let out a short frustrated sigh. There was no point in arguing anymore. He pulled Basia's arm out of the door and ran with her to the garden.
Queen Halina and King Frederich sat in the garden. Their daughter was late and the bushes hadn't been cut in weeks. Queen Halina was calm and tranquil and her husband likewise.
They were surrounded by a lush garden with trees of all kinds (around twenty different species), bushes, rich-smelling roses (along with eighty-seven different kinds of flowers), and the greenest, most crisp grass anyone in the kingdom had ever seen. The garden spread out around twenty acres of land, and it was right next to the pool area at the back of the castle. The view was majestic. You could see the whole kingdom, plus the Blue-Floored Forest, from the very top of the highest tower in the castle.
Basia ran up the steps to the garden. She saw her parents sitting on the patio, waiting for her to arrive. She was embarrassed because of her forgetfulness and prepared herself for the worst as she walked toward her parents. Luckily, they didn't seem to mind her absent-mindedness, and they simply smiled at her as Basia sat next to her father.
Basia had a perplexed look on her face. She was wondering why they were so tranquil.
“Basia,” Queen Halina started “Look at the garden, tell me what you see.”
Basia gazed at the garden, the bushes looked horrible. “Uh, ugly bushes?”
Queen Halina chuckled. The sound of her laugh was like silver bells on a frosty Christmas morning. “Yes.” her face grew disapproving quickly. “A queen has various responsibilities, and she knows that they are very important, correct?”
Basia still had a perplexed mask on her face “Yes.”
Suddenly, Basia remembered something. She was supposed to call the gardening company and set up an appointment for them to come over and garden.
“Oops.” Basia managed to let out. She had other tasks that needed to be done and forgot about those too.
Queen Halina sighed. “As a queen, I am very disappointed that you can't handle the simplest of tasks, but as your mother, I'm very disappointed that you can't remember what I ask you to do.”
Basia leaned down on her hands. Her curls fell from behind her ears dangling lifelessly around her face.
“Aw, don't be so hard on her Hal, she's only seventeen. She hasn't learned the full meaning of responsibility yet.” King Frederich said, trying to comfort Basia by patting her back.
“She should. I've been busting her hump for three years. She should know how to remember tasks shes assigned to do! She doesn't even go to school for Pete's sake! There is no excuse to your slacking off young lady.” The last sentence was directed to Basia.
Basia lifted her head slowly “I'm sorry.”
