Alyssa tapped her finger on the keyboard until the question popped into her head. She hesitated to type but started anyways How do you -
She stopped when heard footsteps in the hallway. She backspaced as fast as she could. Then her brother, Tablin, walked into her room. "Hey Alanis." Alyssa glared, "You're supposed to call me by my human name Alyssa" she said in a irritable tone.
Tablin frowned and took a sip from a black cup. She assumed it was water, a common drink for most humans. "Well, sorry. Maybe you should get used to calling me Jake." He turned and slammed the door.
Alyssa sighed in relief and went back to her question. How do you know when you are in love?

Damon wanted certain things. He wanted to wrestle. He wanted cookies, his own computer, and a better cellphone. Those were things he wanted. But maybe the one, most important thing he desired was Alyssa. Alyssa Grayden. His desire for her was almost obsessive. The sweet scent of her vanilla perfume caressed Damon's thoughts whenever he talked to her. The way Alyssa said his name made him quiver in unsuspected places. Even when Alyssa accidentally brushed her hair against Damon made him sweat by the bucketful.
Damon woke up from this daze as Mr. Watters walked around, clipboard in hand, checking to see if his students had their homework. Damon looked back at the door. He wanted Alyssa to walk in and give Mr. Wattters a pass with Damon's name on it so he can walk out of class and maybe get a glimpse of Alyssa's pale, soft, gorgeous face.
This wasn't the first time Damon has felt like that. Oh no. He'd been feeling that way for months now, he just never had the courage to tell her how he feels.
One thing was getting in the way, though. One thing that held Damon back from all the hormones and desires to reach out and touch Alyssa's angelic face. One thing that tore at Damon's insides whenever he saw Alyssa and her pale green eyes. This thing was Damon's girlfriend, Jessica.
Jessica was a short little girl with long brown hair and dark brown eyes. She had a lot of potential as to becoming a professional singer. And ultimately, she was jealous of Alyssa. Damon gave Alyssa more attention, affection, and even more time. Jessica could see Damon desired Alyssa, and for that, Jessica and Alyssa were not friends.

The classroom door opened, and in walked in Alyssa. Her hair was curled into beautiful black waves, her eyes glowed as she glanced around the room. She handed Mr Watters a slip, like Damon even noticed. He was watching her legs gracefully shift across the room, her hips sway as she walked smoothly and delicately.
Damon's smile seemed to stretch from one ear to the other. He looked across the table to his best friend named Shannon.
Shannon was tall, very tall for a girl - almost as tall as Damon who stood a good five-foot eight inches. She had dark brown hair and dark blue eyes. She was very smart, but didn't show it much. She kept a lot of her personality traits hidden. If there was one thing she did show it was how well she could read her best friend, Damon. One thing she could do perfectly.
Shannon waved to Alyssa, then drew her gaze to Damon.
"Nice." Shannon said with a hint of sarcasm in her voice. That was all she said to him for the rest of the period.
Damon looked down at his notebook and started solving Mr. Watters warm up on a piece of paper.

Alyssa walked into Mr. Watters classroom one morning, delivering notification papers to teachers as usual. She worked as an Office Aid in her human school. Sometimes it got boring, so she would make fake slips saying that her human friends needed to go to the library, or that the teachers needed to call the office for an important message they've been holding. There was some confusion, so it took more time out of learning. A silent favor for her peers since she knew how much human teenagers detested learning.
As Alyssa walked into Mr. Watters room, all eyes were on her, which always made her paranoid about how she looked to the humans. She scoffed at herself. Since when was she interested in what humans thought of her?
She caught Damon staring at her, again. That boy was really peculiar. Tall, blond-haired, blue-eyed, sport-playing type. He was an interesting person, almost to normal for her. She never thought of Damon that way, but he only made it obvious that he thought of her that way. Therefore, Alyssa tried to avoid Damon as much as possible.
He always made the avoidance more complicated, though. He would go out of his way to try and start a conversation, he would stare at her, he would call her brother asking about her. It was annoying, yet flattering.
She gave the slip to Mr. Watters, which was just a reminder for a staff meeting. Mr. Watters nodded his said as to say "Thanks a lot kid", ungratefully, and she turned to walk out of the classroom. Right before she left she waved at her friend Shannon, and simply fixed her eyes on Damon for a moment – always just a moment – and left the room.
After this encounter Alyssa decided something. She whispered to herself "He isn't that bad is he? No, he's just a boy, a human boy at that." It was funny how she had this internal yet external debates with herself. It was almost human.
This repulsed Alyssa. Humans were known to be vile, cruel, immoral, violent, territorial, critical, shallow, and almost everything negative. She could never understand why her mother wanted to move into the human world. So vicious, so...horrible. Thats the only way Alyssa could describe it. Horrible.
Alyssa herself wasn't human, of course. She was a goblin. Despite how the name sounded or how most fairytale books and movies perceived goblins, they were actually very beautiful creatures. All of them looked pretty much the same, meaning that they were all around the same height, – maybe the height of the average twenty year old woman – even the males, and they were all exceptionally beautiful. Most of them had jet black hair, soft glowing white skin, and striking light green eyes. They stopped aging around their two hundredth birthday – in human years that would be about seventeen or eighteen. Most of the goblins had the same ideals and beliefs, like having peace and harmony all over the world. They thought violence and cruelty were wrong and it needed to be stopped amongst all creatures. Even the once brute vampires learned how to control their behaviors. But of course, humans were way more challenging that a couple of vampires.
Halfway to the office Alyssa stopped, open-mouthed, dead in her tracks. What was standing right in front of her was a messenger goblin from her world. Messengers only came for two reasons. She either had a message from the elders – the leaders of the whole goblin world- or she was about to interfere with the "natural" order of the human world.
